agreements FIAT, a general strike!

receive from fellow Stefano Giusti gladly publish this contribution.

If ever proof were needed with the agreements signed at Mirafiori and Pomigliano, Confindustria and trade unions accommodating fake left have thrown down the mask over their reactionary project . Marchionne has revealed the true face of his "business plan" only one strategy that aims to: increase profits by deleting individual rights, increasing the exploitation in the face of continued compression of wages and gains made by workers in many years.

seems like yesterday when, at the time of the Pomigliano referendum, supporters of the agreement in some left, said he had to sign it because it was a situation of "one-off" would not be replicated outside the plant in Campania. With the agreement of Mirafiori instead become even more harsh conditions to which they are placed on the workers. Marchionne introduces a new regime at the factory, which will now be allowed unions only "consenting" to accept the rules imposed by outside constitutional rights. Reduction of breaks on the assembly line, non-payment of the first days of illness, inability to strike, RSU expulsion from the factory who refuse to sign the contract, these are just some of the atrocities contained in this agreement, which is the most reactionary ever seen for 50 years now. It is certified and the final suspension of constitutional rights with which it removes the reference to the national agreement, it institutionalizes second-level bargaining as primary and you decide to whom and under what conditions can and must stand at the factory, whether union or simple worker.

but try to give a reading of more comprehensive agreements between Fiat these days and some unions are just the final phase of the violent attack which has been systematically subjected the world of work in recent years. Unemployment continues to grow, the new Board of Labor, the reform of the Workers' Statute, the insecure institutionalized, the lengthening of the retirement age, almost impossible to relocate those who become unemployed, are the social butchery operations in recent years affected workers, students and temporary workers

Behind the hackneyed talk of markets, the competitiveness international investment (which is never spelled out the nature) lies a very different project, which aims to increase working time and diminish the rights but not to increase employment. With the tale of the labor cost is only looking to keep young people in the slack, forcing them to accept any temporary work and underpaid or move from one stage to another without ever getting a contract, as he always tries to extend the age well beyond the retirement date set by the original contracts of employment.

Well FIOM did not agree to sign and announce the strike for January 28. We wonder quite what's the CGIL to call the working masses in the general strike to give a clear and strong response to this push reactionary. Nor should we expect nothing from unions or complacent at a faux left was quick to jump on the bandwagon to protect employers mercy of work and selling off rights sacred fruit of years of struggle. The CLP does not dispute instead of siding with the workers and to be the left that does not betray the only real alternative to the communist advance of the bourgeoisie

Christmas Tale

Loew's State Theatre - Providence (Rhode Island) 1955

was the December 8, 1974, in Providence (USA ) in the State of Rhode Island from parts of Boston, was the "Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" now.
That day it snowed so much when, in the afternoon, the snow turned into rain. It rained on the stage, some cracks in the ceiling because it was so stretched out of the roadies on large sheets of cellophane and instruments on stage.
But would not stop raining, and the concert was to begin.
Peter Gabriel, nervous because of the unexpected, was seen walking up and down the hall of the theater all the time smoking cigarettes. In the end it was raining right on center stage, just above his head, with puddles of water everywhere!

Outside Palace Theatre (now called Providence Performing Arts Center, but even before it was called Loew's State Theatre in the '80s and Ocean State Theatre) had gathered nearly two hundred people urged to enter, and also to combat the bitter cold.

front of the theater was (and still is) a kiosk chain Dunkin Donuts, a shop specializing in pastries and coffee.

Peter and the other guys in the band went to that kiosk and ordered 30 200 liters of coffee and sweets and began to distribute to the public that was beginning to enter the lobby of the theater. It was a way to entertain them.
But the show could not start, it was still raining on stage and maybe the concert would never have started.
When around 22 people began to raise the sheets of cellophane and instruments from the stage: the rain had stopped.

The Loew's State Theatre in Providence has been reborn as "Providence Performing Arts Center " means a structure for a variety of live events. But the opening of the Loew's moves in the '20s, exactly October 6, 1928. Downcity In his book of 1950, Carmen Maiocco is a summary of the troubled history of Loew's State Theatre. "To understand the history of Loew's State Theatre, now Providence Performing Arts Center, the number of 220 Weybosset Street , you have to go back to the first decade of the twentieth century, one of the magnates of the era of cinema try's, Marcus Loew . Loew began in 1905 putting up a small screening room. Soon after he began to buy other cinemas, even decidedly bleak, and at the end of World War I. We find that controls about 60 rooms of silent cinema. Not satisfied with the films prioettare makes up her mind that they also want to produce. In the early '20s, Marcus Loew purchased two companies in difficulty, Picture Company and Metro Goldwyn Picture Company, is a merger and assumes a man named Louis B. Mayer to oversee the implementation of the films, and so was born the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer , the MGM . By marking his MGM films are screened in almost all the rooms in the U.S., from coast to coast. Meanwhile, Theatres Loew's became one of the largest cinema chain, with over 300 locations. In the mid-'20s , the company decided to build a Loew's Grand Theater in Providence on Weybosset Street. On the day of 'openness, October 6, 1928, over 14,000 people come into the theater to see the building and the ex-Renaissance opulence of the interior, and can attend a screening of the film " Excess Baggage (Excess Baggage) "by William Haines. The Expectations are taken to their seat from 50 stewart in uniform, while in the lobby with huge cages filled with parrots Brazilian noise corridors. Over the next 40 years the Loew's State Theater, with its capacity of 3,200 seats, was the main building of the Cinema in Providence. "
(...)
We jump forward a few decades and here we are at 1970 and things do not seem to go very well for the Loew's Theatre. The theater was hit by a potentially deadly disease. empty seats.
And the jackals business were attentive to the fate of the Loew's.
A businessman of Italian origin ( note: in the state of Rhode Island, which is located a short distance from New York, the community of Italian immigrants was large and very well to the social fabric aggregate), a BA Dario buy the Loew's Theatre in 1971 and he and his family specialize the room (they call Palace Theatre), for some years, as arena for boxing matches and shows rock music. Of course, the theater needs maintenance, ordinary and extraordinary ( the roof of the theater has cracks in several places ) Dario but BA does not spend a single dollar for maintenance. But something did not work, nor the boxing nor rock music and in the mid 70s Dario announces its intention to demolish the building. (Another historic theater, the RKO Albee site Westminster Street was demolished in 1970 shortly after Mr. Dario bought it).
It is said that the wife of Darius, Sylvia, her husband heard the plans for the demolition of the theater, both burst into tears. Those tears have marked the beginning of the salvation of one of the most attractive properties in Providence. Thank you, Dario.
In 1977 Loew Dario sold to a consortium of entrepreneurs ( Outlet Company) led by Bruce Sundlun . The group, aided by the city and Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci Jr. , has renovated the building, and universal acclaim has re open on the evening of October 6, 1978 , exactly fifty years after the inauguration . Thousands have also filled the aisles to hear the singer-actress Ethel Merman . Since then, the Providence Performing Arts Center has enriched the community of Providence much more than words can say.

The government "discouraged" by the intervention of fellow workers

A government rescued by deputies corrupt the "opposition" was "disheartened" by a great mass demonstration of workers and students in Rome. The armored military
Palazzo Chigi and the parliament buildings is the real head of the riots, which saw thousands of young people bravely stand the brunt of police violence. The CLP claims
fully participate in the event, the right of protesters to head to the palaces of power, mass self-defense of this right.
Today's proves once again that the real opposition to Berlusconi is not the parliamentary opposition: that the government allowed the launch of the stability law (new funds to private schools and missions of war), claimed a government "responsibilities national "with the same right-wing parties and led by Bank of Italy (Dragons), have finally got the decisive votes of Berlusconi's own parliamentary malfeasance.
The real opposition is the opposition to Berlusconi social and mass suffering in the name of reason and denied by all governments, employers in the last twenty years (center right and center). The opposition now has two complementary needs. The first is to consolidate and extend the front of all his forces from the block "united against the crisis," in full autonomy by the center. The second is to develop a radicalization of mass action against a reactionary government and corrupting: preparing a true prolonged general strike to wipe out.
